MOTs-C

MOTS-C is a small peptide encoded directly in the mitochondria, highlighting its unique role in cellular function that has garnered attention for its ability to positively influence mitochondrial function, metabolic regulation, and age-related metabolic decline. It is measured in plasma and multiple tissues including muscle, brain, and liver.

This peptide appears to play a crucial role in optimizing energy metabolism, enhancing insulin sensitivity, and promoting overall cellular health. MOTS-C may improve the efficiency of energy production by turning glucose into energy at the mitochondrial level which may increase skeletal muscle, reduce visceral fat and upregulate brown adipose fat while preventing bone loss which may increase energy and improve exercise tolerance.
